Comments:My husband was kicked in 2002 by a racehorse he was a farrier and took a blow to the liver and has a condition the Dr. calls trauma induced Pancreatittis. He has bouts with chronic bloating ,diahreah and being bedridden for days at a time. We live in rual SE Oklahoma and have no insurance since the accident, he has become depressed and really feels useless because he can no longer do what he use to do, provide for his family and hunting,fishing and going places.I am to my witts end and hope someone here can help us.He has some good days but mostly bad if he overexerts himself we have a set back. He is truly unable to hold down a jod and Social Securtiy keeps deining him please if there is any one out there that can relate to our problems let me hear from you. our savings are gone and we live on my dissability which isn't much any words of incourgment will be truly apperciated. Comments:I just completed an Executive Health Screen at University of Chicago on Tuesday and was given a little scare. Everything looked great on my blood work except my Glucose levels were high (127mg/dL). Given my condition (14% body fat and superior cardiovascular performance for my age of 45) they were quite surprised, as was I. Diabetes was a possibility and an additional test was ordered (Hemoglobin A1c, Blood). Results came back today and and levels were elevated (HbA1c CMT 5.8) but not enough to label me as a diabetic just yet. I suggested a possible link to the Endurox and Accelerade performance recovery drinks I've using over the last few months but, but they had little insight into this. I do have Diabetes in the family and am making some dietary adjustments, although I have a fairly healthy diet and my cholesterol was not identified as a problem. I am left wondering about the continued use of Endurox and Accelerade for a "pre-diabetic". Can you direct me to any research or findings on this? Outside of this, I'm at a loss since Type 2 corrective action seems to center around diet and weight control. I train 3-4 hours a week for competing in mountian bike races and traded in donuts for bagels two years ago. Any ideas, suggestions or references to other sites for info? I really at a loss.... | |

Comments:I am envolved with a man who has type 1 diabetes. we are both students and our insurance will not cover his insulin pump supplies. so at this point he has been fortunate enough to be able to get some supplies from friends. this option is running out however and we are not quite sure where to go. he has been denied coverage for other insurance. are there any suggestions from anyone. we could use some advice from others in the same situation. he uses a minimed pump with humolog insulin. | |
