Comments: I have a three year old little girl who was diagnosed last year with Type 1 diabetes. I want to help find a cure. I'm not rich, but I have some great ideas. I would like to write a book about my daughters experiences so far. I want to try and find a cure to maybe stop all the deaths that are caused by this disease. Comments: I had Diabeties since 5 years and i am now 11. I have type 2 diabeties too.Like so many others. I was only 6 when this situation occured. I was so scared and didnt know what this was but now that i am growing up i am figuring out what kind of disaster im in!!! I'm still frightened. But I have the pump so i can eat what i want and still control my diabeties sugar. I still sometimes wish i didnt have it and how it would be if i didnt. I dont even care anymore because im special with a problem and whoever has DIABETIES IS SECIAL!!!! Thanks BOB for careing for the diabeties people! I didnt even know that there was something for us kin=d of people too until my doctor just hours ago told me that there was something for everyone in this world! And i am happy that there is!! I am Diabetic! And Proud to Be ONE!!!!!**

Comments: I was told if I do not change my eating habits and don't exercise I will get type 2 diabets. My doctor gave me 30 days to see what I can do before he puts me on medication. I am looking for some help on what foods I should eat, and when I should eat them. I have stopped all sugar and have reduced fat in my diet. I have started walking 5 miles a day and have lost 12 pounds.

Comments: Bob, I was feeling pretty sorry for myself today when I got the call and they told me I had type 2. No explations but to tell me to my a guecose test kit and monitor my rates 2 times a day. This is from a woman who hates needles!! I have sent most of the afternoon reading the little flyer that came with the machine and am still confused. Will this ever go away. Paticularly since I have pancreatitus first? I would appreciate the names of good books that provide information on the disease and also a how to cope book if there is such a beast. Comments: Having been with you since february 1998 and its inception I am very proud to be one of the first meembers of your chat room who always looks forward to talking to you. I always recommmend this page to everyone i know that is a diabetic. By the way I am a type 2 diabetic and I am also a double amputee I have no legs. But will be getting fake ones soon. Comments: I was told in March that I have Type II, and was immediately put on oral medication. My fasting sugar was 160 per the doctor. My random sugar was 230 when she first suspected. I am 5 ft tall, now weigh 203. I was 255 lbs. I do some exercise, have eliminated cake, candy, ice cream, treats, and most breads. My sugar levels are between 90 and 120. I want to get off of the medication. Ftiends have told me that taking Chromium or niacin would be good for lowering the sugar. What do you think. I do not get home from work and other activities until 8pm, and we eat between 9-10pm, and sleep by midnight. We get up at 5am. I need to find out what foods to eat and not to eat, which type exercise is better, and how to be less tired. I want to keep motivated. Please give me some suggestions. What books should I read about Type II. I am 52 years old with a family, the youngest is in elementary school. Thank you.

Comments: Thanks for going to all the work! Have a client who is doing his will and wants to leave a sizeable amount to diabetes research, in memory of his deceased wife. Comments: I have a son who is 15 and had diabeties for 10 years. He is such a great kid he nevers says "why me" . But I know he is so sick of getting shots and testing his blood sugar. I wish he new more people with this. I wonder if any one knows of a support group for teens with diabeties? I know with a good attitude and good control he can live a long and healthy life. I love him very much and I want him to be around a very long time.

Comments: I like the comments I found here. I am a 32 year old who found out I had Type II diabetes in June 2000 when I had a physical for a new job. It hit me hard and believe me when I say its been difficult, my wife wonders what I did wrong and what I need to do to fix it, because I have no family history, I have nobody to help me explain what the problem is, How do I handle this? The doctor has me on Glucaphage and GlocatrolXR, but my hemoglobin A1C number is still 8 and daily glucose number are between 78 and 170. A new problem has now arisen, I am a member of the Army National Guard and they want to see proof the my blood sugar is controlled. To this point I don't believe that it is, can I be kick out for this condition and if so can I fight it????

Comments: hi there hows the craig the weather here is not to good but life is good. i became "anti suger type 1" last march and boy did this year fly. it had lots of highs with very few lows which is good i think. i am semi stable at the mo and it feels good. heres a story for ya. i was asked to visit a doctor for a check, which was required of me for to get house insurace for the house. this doctor was not my usual doctor as he was asigned by the insurance company. he asked all the expected questions then when finished he turned and asked "how is your head with dibetes". and of corse i said nottta problem, and left. went out side and asked my self the same question "how is my head with diabetes" i had a little think. and i am still thinking and it is helping. my knowlege of computers is comme-ci, cumme-ca but i hope you get this message and to say to any new "anti sugar" compads, have a little think get your head arround it. its a pain, but its a healthy pain. if you under stand give us a buzz
