WEDNESDAY, May 11 (Medical News Today) -- A Penn State College of Medicine study suggests that a common antibiotic called minocycline may slow or prevent diabetic retinopathy, a complication of diabetes that is the leading cause of blindness in people ages 20 to 74.

MONDAY, May 2 (Pharmacist.com) -- Upstart biotech firm Amylin Pharmaceuticals now has two marketed products that may find unique places in therapy of patients with type 2 diabetes, thanks to today's approval of exenatide (Byetta) injection by FDA. The product--pronounced bye-A-tuh--will be comarketed with Eli Lilly and Company.
